Aprilia
Aprilia is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer owned by Piaggio. Although Aprilia is best known for its sportbikes ability to win races, it actually started out as a scooter manufacturer. Cavaliere Alberto Beggio founded Aprilia as a bike production facility in Noale, Italy after the Second World War.
Benelli
Benelli is one of the oldest European motorcycles factories established in 1911 in Pesaro, Italy. After Mr. Benelli died the mother, Teresa Benelli and her 6 sons Domenico, Filippo, Francesco, Giovanni, Giuseppe, and Antonio decided to go into business for themselves working on bicycles and motorcycles.
Beta
Best known for their ever popular trial bikes, Beta specialized in off road motorcycles as an Italian motorcycle manufacturer, even though they started as a bicycle manufacturing plant in 1904 known as “Societe Giuseppe Bianchi” originally located in Florence.
Bimota
In 1973 an Italian motorcycle manufacturer named Bimota was founded in Rimini, Italy by Bianchi, Morri, and Tamburini. Because the company name is derived from the first 2 letters of the 3 founders names it is known as a portmanteau.
BMW
The first BMW motorcycle was manufactured in Germany in 1923. Known as the R32, the motorcycle featured a flat twin boxer engine which is still used today. BMW also makes luxury cars and actually started out making airplane engines in the 20th century and during World War 1.
Buell
An American motorcycle manufacturer in East Troy, Wisconsin, Buell was founded in 1983 by Erik Buell, who was an engineer at Harley-Davidson. In 1983 the first competition only Buell, the RW750, was built to race in the AMA Formula 1 championship.
